Major Fire Erupts Near Big Fashion Complex in Yarka, Evacuations and Road Closures
A large fire broke out in an open area near the Big Fashion shopping and entertainment complex in Yarka on Saturday, prompting the evacuation of the premises and closure of nearby roads. Firefighting forces battled the blaze, which involved burning tires, for several hours. The fire reached an open area behind the complex while it was crowded with shoppers.
The police evacuated the area, closed adjacent routes, and advised the public to avoid the vicinity. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The circumstances surrounding the fire's ignition are currently under investigation.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and protect nearby structures, eventually gaining full control. Firefighting operations are ongoing, with crews using foam to contain the burning tires. Heavy machinery was deployed to assist in dismantling tire piles. Fire and Rescue services confirmed that the fire did not reach the Big Fashion building or a nearby tire recycling plant.
Footage from the scene showed thick black smoke billowing from the open area. Strong winds contributed to the fire's spread towards adjacent storage facilities.
