Massive Fire Erupts Near Israeli Shopping Center, Threatening Homes
A large fire broke out in the Israeli community of Yarka, in the northern part of the country, engulfing an open area behind the BIG Fashion shopping complex. The blaze reportedly started at an improvised dump where old car tires caught fire. Fueled by strong winds, the flames began spreading towards nearby residential buildings.
Numerous fire crews from the Zvulun division, along with additional forces and water tankers, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters focused their efforts on containing the blaze and protecting the homes threatened by the advancing flames. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The entire BIG Fashion shopping center was evacuated due to the fire. According to police, there were no injuries. Police officers from the Western Galilee station and coastal border police assisted firefighters in extinguishing the fire. Their combined efforts successfully brought the blaze under control.
Several roads in the Yarka area were temporarily closed due to the fire but have since been reopened. Police urged residents to exercise caution with fire and to immediately report any ignitions to the fire and rescue services or the police.
