Joint List and United Arab List Sign Vote Surplus Agreement

The Joint List and the United Arab List, two Arab political factions in Israel, signed a "vote surplus" agreement on Friday. The deal aims to prevent vote wastage and ensure a fair and clean election campaign. The signing ceremony took place at the home of writer Mohammed Ali Taha, head of the National Accord Committee, in the village of Kafr Yasif.

Representatives from both lists, along with members of the National Accord Committee, were present for the signing. Amjad Shabita, deputy head of the Joint List, and attorney Yahya Dahamsha, deputy head of the United Arab List, signed the agreement. Mohammed Ali Taha and spokesperson Professor Mustafa Kabha signed on behalf of the National Accord Committee.

The agreement mandates a vote surplus arrangement between the two lists to avoid wasting votes. It also commits both parties to conduct an honest and clean election campaign. They urged their cadres and supporters to adhere to proper discussion and dialogue, despite political differences and differing opinions.

Furthermore, the lists agreed that this commitment would extend to all statements, debates, and media platforms. They also called on media outlets and journalists to act responsibly during the election campaign period.

Both the Joint List and the United Arab List stated that the agreement stems from a sense of responsibility and a desire to increase voter turnout and participation. They aim to compete in a civilized manner, avoiding accusations, defamation, slander, and fabrication, in order to preserve social cohesion and civil peace within the Arab community.
