Arab Community Forum Honors Legacy of Local Leader at Annual Shrine Visit

The 'Azwtona' Forum, a community organization within the Arab sector, participated in the annual pilgrimage to the shrine of Prophet Sabilan in the village of Harfesh. The event saw a diverse gathering of religious leaders, community figures, intellectuals, writers, journalists, artists, institution directors, and peacemakers, alongside guests from various faiths and denominations.

During the occasion, the forum remembered the late Nour El-Din Shanan, also known as 'Abu Jaber,' who was lauded for his decades of service as a community leader, peacemaker, and symbol of generosity and authenticity. His home and diwan (reception area) were described as open houses for guests, fostering love and brotherhood.

'Abu Jaber' traditionally hosted guests at this annual event with a large feast, a custom his family continues. The 'Azwtona' Forum expressed gratitude to Shanan's sons and family for hosting a celebratory meal for the forum members and guests, honoring their father's legacy. The feast took place at noon, continuing the tradition.

Sheikh Akram Sawad, representing the forum, invited attendees to the lunch, emphasizing the continuation of 'Abu Jaber's' heritage of generosity and love. He, along with forum members, presented Shanan's sons with a certificate of appreciation for their dedication to their father's path and the continuation of his tradition of bringing people together.

Sheikh Sawad spoke about Nour El-Din Shanan's positive attributes, including his generosity, social and reformist roles, and his home as a welcoming place for all. He encouraged Shanan's sons to uphold their father's values of giving, kindness, community service, and reconciliation, stating that the best tribute to parents is to maintain their good reputation and continue their work of fostering love and good among people.
