Germany Accuses 7 Hamas Suspects of Plotting Attack

German federal prosecutors announced Friday that they have indicted seven individuals suspected of belonging to Hamas for allegedly joining a foreign terrorist organization and preparing an attack in Germany. The suspects are accused of seeking to acquire weapons, including a fully automatic rifle, 13 pistols, and over 700 rounds of ammunition, to carry out a planned attack in Germany or Austria in October 2025. This date marks the second anniversary of the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel.

According to prosecutors, the men acted on orders from senior Hamas leaders. The planned attack was reportedly aimed at representatives of Israelis, Jews, or supporters of Israel. German security forces have repeatedly warned of increased calls for violence against Jews in Germany following the October 7th attacks.

German domestic intelligence indicated that the thwarted plot demonstrates Hamas's or its affiliates' attempts to "establish secret logistical networks in Germany to purchase weapons and plan attacks." All seven suspects remain in custody.
