Arab Lists Sign Vote Surplus Pact for Fair Election Campaign

On Friday, representatives from the Joint List and the Unified Arab List signed a vote surplus agreement and pledged to conduct a fair election campaign. The signing ceremony took place at the home of Professor Mohammed Ali Taha, head of the National Accord Committee, in the village of Kabul.

The agreement was signed by Amjad Shabita, representing the Joint List, and lawyer Yahya Dahamsha, representing the Unified Arab List. Professor Mustafa Kabha, spokesperson for the National Accord Committee, and Mohammed Ali Taha were also present, along with Youssef Tator from the Joint List.

The pact states that the signatories are motivated by a sense of responsibility and a desire to achieve common goals, including increasing voter turnout and participation, and toppling the right-wing government. They committed to engaging in a civilized electoral discourse, free from accusations, slander, and fabrication, and to preserving social cohesion and civil peace.

Key provisions of the agreement include the implementation of a vote surplus mechanism to prevent wasted votes, a commitment to a clean and fair campaign, and calls for party cadres and supporters to adhere to proper discussion and dialogue despite political differences. Both lists agreed to ensure all statements and media appearances reflect this commitment, urging media professionals to act responsibly.

The agreement will be formally submitted to the Central Elections Committee for approval after the lists themselves are officially validated.
