Arab Political Lists Agree on Vote Surplus and Fair Campaign

On September 11, 2026, representatives from the Joint List and the Unified Arab List signed an agreement to pool surplus votes and pledged to conduct a fair and clean election campaign. The signing ceremony took place at the home of Professor Mohammed Ali Taha, head of the National Accord Committee, in the village of Kabul, and was attended by committee members and representatives from both political lists.

The agreement, signed by Amjad Shabita for the Joint List and lawyer Yahya Dahamsha for the Unified Arab List, aims to increase voter turnout and participation, and to oust the right-wing government. Both parties committed to engaging in electoral discourse in a civilized manner, avoiding accusations, slander, and fabrication, and to preserving social cohesion and civil peace.

Key provisions include an agreement on pooling surplus votes to prevent waste and a commitment to a fair and clean campaign. The lists also pledged to call on their cadres, supporters, and the general voting public to adhere to the principles of discussion and dialogue, despite political differences. This commitment extends to all media platforms, with a call for media professionals to exercise responsibility in their reporting.

The National Accord Committee, represented by Professor Mohammed Ali Taha and its spokesperson Professor Mustafa Kebha, mediated the agreement. The parties stated that a formal document will be submitted to the Central Elections Committee once the lists are officially approved.
