German authorities have uncovered a significant Hamas network allegedly preparing for large-scale attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets across Europe, with planned assaults set for October 7, 2025, exactly two years after the Hamas massacre in southern Israel. According to German federal prosecutors, potential targets included Israeli diplomats, Jewish community centers, and pro-Israel event attendees in Berlin and Vienna. Further evidence includes a video recorded in August 2025 by one suspect, masked and armed, displaying a Hamas flag and pre-emptively claiming responsibility for an attack in Vienna, which prosecutors suggest was intended for release after the fact. This indicates, according to the prosecution, that specific operations were being prepared, not just future arsenals.

Adding complexity, one of the accused is reportedly a confidential informant who allegedly continued to provide information to German intelligence while concealing his own involvement in acquiring ammunition for the cell, potentially using his informant status to mislead authorities.
