Hamas Terror Plot Targeting Israelis in Europe Foiled by Germany
German prosecutors have revealed an unprecedented terror plot by a Hamas cell aimed at attacking Israeli diplomats, Jewish community centers, and pro-Israel demonstrators in Berlin and Vienna on October 7, 2025, the second anniversary of the October 7th massacre. The indictment, spanning 214 pages, details a plan for simultaneous or near-simultaneous attacks in the two European capitals.
Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the plot. Investigations uncovered an international arms smuggling network operated by the cell, with routes extending from Lebanon and Turkey through Denmark, Germany, and Austria. Shockingly, one of the accused allegedly acted as a double agent, providing information to German security services while actively participating in acquiring weapons for the cell and deceiving them about his involvement.
The plot was thwarted on October 1, 2025, just six days before the planned attacks. German security forces raided a residential building in Berlin's Moabit district during a weapons transfer, seizing an assault rifle, eight handguns, and over 600 rounds of ammunition. Evidence also emerged of one suspect filming a masked, armed video claiming responsibility in Vienna while brandishing a Hamas flag in August 2025.
German intelligence officials stated that the case, being handled by the Berlin Higher Regional Court for State Security, indicates a significant strategic shift in Hamas's operations in Europe. The organization appears to be moving beyond fundraising, propaganda, and logistics to establishing operational cells for carrying out deadly terrorist attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets on Western soil.
