Neighbors Find Man Dead in Tel Aviv Apartment While Wishing Him a Happy New Year

A man in his 70s was found dead in his Tel Aviv apartment on Thursday, September 11, 2024, after neighbors discovered him while attempting to wish him a happy new year ahead of the Jewish holiday. The neighbors had gone to his apartment on Gadud HaIvri Street to offer holiday greetings but received no response to their knocking. Growing concerned, they found the apartment door unlocked and entered, only to discover the man deceased.

ZAKA volunteers, an emergency response organization, were dispatched to the scene and described the situation as "difficult" and the handling as "complex." They reported finding the man, who had apparently been dead for some time. The volunteers worked to preserve the dignity of the deceased and assisted police forces with the findings at the scene.

The deceased was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for further investigation into the circumstances of his death. ZAKA noted that they regularly handle similar incidents, citing a case two weeks prior where a man in his 70s was found dead in his Bnei Brak apartment after neighbors reported a strong odor.
