Rachel Rabin Yaakov, Sister of Slain Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Dies at 101

Rachel Rabin Yaakov, the sister of the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, passed away on Friday at the age of 101. Born in 1925, Rabin was an educator and one of the founders of Kibbutz Menara in the Upper Galilee, where she taught the first class. She was recognized as an influential voice within the kibbutz movement in the region.

At the start of the "Swords of Iron" war, Rabin was evacuated from Kibbutz Menara, which faced daily shelling from Hezbollah. Due to her medical condition, she had not returned to the kibbutz since the evacuation.

In an interview marking 25 years since her brother's assassination, Rabin reflected on the current political climate. "I miss my brother who always took responsibility," she told Esti Perez on Kan Radio B's "B'Haitz HaYom" program. "The feeling today is that there is no government, no one is taking responsibility for anything. There is no leadership today, not on my side, nor on the other."

Rachel Rabin Yaakov will be laid to rest on Monday at the cemetery in Kibbutz Menara.
