Dr. Luai Ziknon Honored with National Government Medical Centers Award

Dr. Luai Ziknon, Director of Medical Treatment Safety, Risk Management, and Public Engagement at Ziv Medical Center in Safed, has been awarded the 2025 Head of the Government Medical Centers Division Award. The award ceremony took place at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. The award recognizes Dr. Ziknon's leadership in driving significant changes at Ziv, enhancing the quality of medical services, safety, and organizational learning. He has managed the reporting and learning system based on incident management and developed digitization processes. His contributions were crucial to Ziv's success in achieving JCI accreditation, a stringent international standard for healthcare quality and safety. Dr. Ziknon, a resident of Jish, has been with Ziv for over 24 years, progressing from a nurse in the internal medicine department to his current leadership role. He also engages in academic research on medical treatment quality and safety.

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Ziknon expressed his deep emotion, emphasizing the interconnectedness of treatment quality, patient safety, and service experience. He stated his continuous focus on improving patient and staff care and highlighted how his transition to risk management provided a holistic view of the system for ongoing improvement. Dr. Ziknon also stressed the importance of community engagement through handling public complaints and thanked Ziv Medical Center Director Professor Salman Zarka and the staff for their commitment.

Professor Zarka congratulated Dr. Ziknon, calling him the most deserving recipient. He expressed pride in Ziv's focus on treatment and care safety, which has become a cornerstone across all departments. He attributed these achievements to a strong organizational culture and the dedication of Ziv's 2,300 employees. Professor Zarka noted Ziv's first-place ranking in patient experience surveys and its JCI accreditation as testaments to their success, pledging continued efforts for the health of the north.
