Ben Gvir Sues Gadi Eisenkot for Defamation Over Podcast Remarks
Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir announced Thursday he is suing Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, for NIS 100,000 in a defamation lawsuit. The suit stems from comments Eisenkot made on the "How to Do Things" podcast, where he attributed statements to Ben Gvir such as "the only way is to kill" and "a good Arab is a dead Arab."
Ben Gvir's office stated that Eisenkot's remarks were made in reference to Ben Gvir, saying, "When I look at the phenomenon called Itamar Ben Gvir." In the lawsuit filing, Ben Gvir asserted that he never published, promoted, or disseminated videos containing calls to kill or the phrase "a good Arab is a dead Arab," calling these claims "an absolute lie."
Ben Gvir is seeking NIS 100,000 from Eisenkot and his party without the need to prove damages. Additionally, he is requesting that the court order the removal of the podcast segment from all party-controlled platforms and compel the publication of a clear correction.
