AIG Israel Employees Announce Full Strike Amid Labor Dispute

Employees at AIG Israel are set to commence a full strike starting tomorrow, following the collapse of negotiations between the company's management, the workers' committee, and the Histadrut labor union. The strike will halt all of AIG's operational centers and its headquarters.

The industrial action comes after nearly a year of discussions aimed at reaching a new collective labor agreement. Despite the prolonged negotiations, the parties failed to reach common ground on key issues including employee salaries, employment conditions, and job security.

A central point of contention involves AIG's plans to implement a voice agent system, a move that employees fear could impact job numbers and the nature of their work. The workers are demanding that the integration of such technologies, which could affect the workforce, be addressed within the new collective agreement.

Last month, the Histadrut and the AIG workers' committee declared a labor dispute due to the persistent gaps in the negotiations. Tomer Malul, chairman of the AIG workers' committee, stated that despite nearly a year of responsible negotiations, the latest talks ended without progress, necessitating the strike. He placed the responsibility for resolving the crisis and reaching an agreement on the management.
