Or Yehuda Launches Major Holiday Food Drive for Needy Families

Ahead of the High Holidays, the Or Yehuda Municipality has launched its annual campaign to distribute food baskets and shopping vouchers to ensure all local families can celebrate the holidays with dignity. The extensive operation, spearheaded by the volunteer unit within the Community Resources Department, involves hundreds of families receiving aid for Rosh Hashanah.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the municipality, various charity organizations, donors, and hundreds of volunteers. Key partners include the "Or Balev" Chabad center, "Or Eitan" charity in cooperation with Bar-Ilan University's student union, the IDF's Chief Medical Officer Command, Lavi pre-military academy trainees, The Israel Fund, "Chag Sameach" association, Latet, and Mifal HaPayis.

To streamline the distribution of hundreds of food packages, delivery teams utilized a dedicated app called "Chagi," developed by Menachem Einmar and Noam Henig, which significantly improved the logistics and transportation system throughout the city.

Mayor Liאת Shochat praised the heartwarming campaign, stating that the city's true strength lies in its ability to care for every resident, especially during the holidays. She emphasized that the food drive exemplifies the mutual responsibility and spirit of giving within the Or Yehuda community. Shochat extended her gratitude to all partners, donors, welfare teams, and the numerous young volunteers, soldiers, and citizens who dedicated their time.

Special thanks were also given to volunteers from "Or Eitan" led by Odia, Roni, Ariel, and Elia; Bar-Ilan University students; officers and soldiers from the Chief Medical Officer Command led by Ofri; Lavi pre-military academy students under Rabbi Ofir Schwartztzbaum; and "Chag Sameach" volunteers. Employees of the Community Resources Department and the Social Services and Community Services Administration were also commended for their year-round dedication.
