Ashdod Launches Major Aid Program for Needy Families Ahead of Holidays
The Ashdod Municipality, through its Social Services Administration, is set to distribute NIS 300,000 in shopping vouchers to low-income families in the city in preparation for the upcoming High Holidays (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur). The majority of the funding comes directly from the municipal budget, with significant contributions from various charities, foundations, and businesses, including The Friends of Israel Association, "Hazon LeYisrael" (Vision for Israel), and Inrom Industries Ltd.
The distribution will be targeted towards families known to the municipal welfare system, aiming to enable them to purchase holiday necessities with dignity and according to their specific needs. This collaborative effort leverages the welfare teams' direct knowledge of the community to ensure aid reaches those most in need effectively.
Ronit Tzur, head of the Social Services Administration, stated, "The Ashdod Municipality invests significant resources annually to assist families in need, and during the holiday period, we expand our support to allow families to celebrate with dignity. Alongside the municipal investment, we are pleased with the valuable partnerships with charities, companies, and organizations that choose to join our efforts and strengthen the support system. This is mutual responsibility in its deepest sense, and we thank all the partners who have joined."
The municipality emphasized that pooling resources from the city budget and donations from the third sector and businesses significantly expands the reach of support, especially during the holidays when expenses increase. They expressed gratitude to all participating entities for bolstering community resilience in Ashdod.
