Jerusalem Distributes Holiday Aid Baskets to Elderly Residents
Ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday, hundreds of aid baskets were distributed to elderly and isolated residents in Jerusalem. The initiative, called "Metachberim" (Connecting) and conducted in partnership with the Jerusalem Municipality, aims to combat loneliness among the elderly population.
Judith, the founder of "Metachberim," described the effort as more than just delivering goods. She emphasized that the holiday visits are a crucial part of the fight against loneliness, providing a sense of connection and care. She expressed pride in the growing number of volunteers involved in the project, who help expand its reach to more people and places.
The distribution is intended to ensure that no elderly citizen feels alone during the holiday season, offering a gesture of support and community connection.
