Three Weapons Stolen From Elite Naval Commando Base; Soldier Suspected
Three weapons were stolen several days ago from a base belonging to the elite Shayetet 13 naval commando unit in northern Israel. A soldier is suspected of involvement in the theft. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated on Thursday that the military "views any incident of weapons theft very seriously and acts decisively to prevent such events." The army also acknowledged awareness of the growing phenomenon of smuggling via drones and is working with the police, employing "close monitoring through various means, including observations, collection methods, and intelligence. Staff work is underway to improve the operational response in the area."
A joint investigation by military police and the Israel Police has been launched into the incident. The findings will be transferred to the Military Advocate General's Corps for review.
