Three M-16 Rifles Stolen from Naval Commando Base; Soldier Arrested
Three M-16 rifles were stolen from soldiers at the naval commando base in Atlit early Tuesday morning, around 3:30 AM. The incident occurred at a secure IDF facility and has triggered an immediate investigation.
Initial findings suggest possible inside involvement. Consequently, a soldier serving at the base was arrested for questioning on suspicion of stealing the weapons from other soldiers. Due to the sensitivity of the event and the potential for the weapons to fall into the wrong hands, the investigation is being conducted jointly by the Military Police and the Israel Police to locate the firearms.
Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be transferred to the Military Advocate General's Corps for the formulation of an indictment.
