Three M-16 Rifles Stolen From Sensitive Naval Commando Base
Three M-16 rifles were stolen from the sensitive Shayetet 13 naval commando base in Atlit, near Haifa, early Tuesday morning. A soldier serving at the base has been arrested and is under investigation for suspected involvement in the theft.
The theft occurred around 3:30 AM. Security officials suspect an inside job, leading to the soldier's arrest. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Military Police and the Israel Police, with the findings to be transferred to the Military Advocate General's Corps.
Efforts are ongoing to locate the stolen weapons and determine the full circumstances of the incident. The IDF stated that it takes any incident of weapons theft very seriously and is working to prevent such events in cooperation with the police.
