Two M16 Rifles and Improvised Carlo Weapon Seized in Umm al-Fahm Arrest
A resident of Umm al-Fahm was arrested after a joint investigation by the Menashe District police investigative unit and the Shin Bet, on suspicion of serious security offenses and arms trafficking. The suspect was detained earlier this month after the covert investigation became overt.
During a search of his home, officers found two M16 rifles, an improvised Carlo-type weapon, and several magazines. He was transferred for joint questioning by Menashe investigators and the Shin Bet.
His remand was extended repeatedly by court during the investigation. After investigators completed their work and built the evidentiary foundation, the Haifa District Attorney's Office filed a declaration of prosecutor's intent against him today.
Authorities said an indictment is expected in the coming days, together with a request to keep him in custody until the end of proceedings. Police and the Shin Bet said they will continue acting firmly and jointly against weapons offenses and people who endanger public safety, in order to thwart security threats and prevent weapons from reaching hostile actors.
