Veteran Israeli Journalist Rina Matsliach Reveals Rift with Colleague Amit Segal

Veteran Israeli journalist Rina Matsliach has revealed that she has not spoken with her former colleague, Amit Segal, for a significant period. In an upcoming interview on Channel 13's "Asanaheim" program, Matsliach sharply criticized Segal, attributing the prolonged silence to deep perceptual differences regarding the role of media and the motivations behind journalistic work.

Matsliach stated, "I haven't spoken with Amit Segal in a long time. We are two different types of journalists and don't really have much in common." She further elaborated on their differing approaches, explaining, "I came to journalism as a public servant, like a tax authority clerk who needs to do her job. He came to advance his ideology." This personal rift, previously confined to professional disagreements, now appears to have moved into the personal sphere.

Both Matsliach and Segal have been prominent figures at Channel 12's "Meet the Press" and its main news broadcasts for the past two decades. This is not the first time Matsliach has publicly criticized Segal. Following her departure from "Meet the Press," she had previously attacked the channel and Segal, suggesting her exit paved the way for his entry and calling him "the most influential journalist in Israel."

Matsliach also touched upon past controversies, including a "terrible campaign" against her after she commented on the Haredi community's perceived prioritization of rabbis over the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, alleging a coordinated effort involving the Haredi community and Netanyahu's office.
