Israeli Lawmaker Receives News of Terrorist's Elimination 23 Years After Husband's Murder

Knesset Member Limor Son Har Melech received news on Wednesday that one of the terrorists involved in the 2003 attack that killed her husband, Shuli Har Melech, has been eliminated. The IDF targeted and killed Farah Hamed, a senior Hamas military wing operative, in Gaza. Hamed, 43, was part of the Silwad Hamas cell responsible for the attack that killed Shuli Har Melech and severely injured Limor. He was arrested, convicted of terrorism, and sentenced to life imprisonment in Israel.

In 2011, Hamed was released as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and exiled to the Gaza Strip. According to security officials, he continued his terrorist activities from Gaza, becoming involved in promoting and directing attacks in the West Bank. This meant he remained active in terrorism against Israel even years after the attack that claimed her husband's life.

Limor Son Har Melech commented on the news, stating, "Twenty-three years have passed since Shuli was murdered before my eyes. The pain does not pass and the longing does not let go, but today justice has been done." She expressed gratitude to the IDF soldiers and security forces for their actions in eliminating the terrorist. The 2003 attack, which deeply affected the lawmaker and became emblematic of the terror wave of that era, remains a significant part of her life.
