Hamas Terrorist Who Murdered Husband of Israeli Lawmaker Eliminated in Gaza
Israeli Air Force targeted and eliminated Faraḥ Ḥāmed, a senior commander in Hamas's military wing, in an airstrike in southwest Gaza City. Ḥāmed was a member of the "Silwad cell" responsible for deadly attacks during the Second Intifada. He was directly involved in the murder of Shuli Har-Melech, husband of current Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech.
Ḥāmed was released in the 2011 prisoner exchange deal for Gilad Shalit, subsequently exiled to Gaza, and continued to direct terrorist activities in the West Bank. He had survived previous assassination attempts before this latest strike by Israeli security forces.
This operation marks the closure of a chapter spanning over two decades, bringing a measure of justice for the victims and their families, including MK Son Har-Melech.
