Cave of the Patriarchs Roof Completed After Major Renovation

Extensive roofing and renovation work at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron concluded today, following months of construction. The project was initiated following a decision by Finance Minister and Minister of Defense Bezalel Smotrich to cancel relevant Hebron arrangements and transfer authorities from the Hebron municipality.

The Civil Administration, in conjunction with the Settlement Administration at the Ministry of Defense and its Building Division, led the renovation efforts. A ceremony marking the completion of the work was attended by Smotrich, with blessings sent by Defense Minister Israel Katz. Local leaders from Hebron and Kiryat Arba, rabbis, and senior security officials were also present.

At the ceremony, Smotrich stated, "This special place where we are this morning, the Cave of the Patriarchs, is actually the first sovereign inheritance in the chain of generations of the people of Israel." He added that the cave, purchased by Abraham, has become a symbol of Jewish sovereignty in their land. Smotrich described the completion as a "historic closing of a circle," expressing confidence that the Israeli public will be able to pray there in large numbers and with dignity starting next Rosh Hashanah.
