Rabbi Shternbuch to Receive List of 200 Names on Rosh Hashanah

As the High Holy Day of Rosh Hashanah begins, a list of exactly 200 names will be presented to Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu Shternbuch during the "Avinu Malkeinu" prayer service. This "fateful list" is part of an initiative to gather support for Torah scholars. Rabbi Shternbuch will pray for the success and well-being of those who contribute to supporting these scholars, seeking abundant spiritual and material prosperity for them.

The initiative, announced before the Tisha B'Av fast, aims to expand the reach of the "Teshuvot VeHanhagot" network of yeshivas, which has already added over 100 scholars and opened two new branches. Rabbi Shternbuch has personally vouched for the scholars in these institutions, calling them "great Torah sages" and emphasizing that supporting them is a "merit for abundant prosperity in livelihood and all matters."

The suggested contribution for inclusion on the list is 786 shekels, a sum chosen for its numerical value related to "abundant prosperity." To avoid overburdening the rabbi and other congregants, the list is capped at 200 names. A special tier of partnership, "Ktav Chatmun L'Chaim" (A Written Covenant for Life) at 3,000 shekels, is also available, which includes a signed document from Rabbi Shternbuch.

Rabbi Shternbuch has urged the public to support Torah learning, stating that such support provides the strength to "tear through the heavens." Those whose names are on the list will receive exceptional blessings for health, livelihood, offspring, and general well-being for the coming year, as the rabbi prays for them at a pivotal moment in the Jewish calendar.
