IDF Warns of Hamas Rearmament in Gaza, Strikes Targets

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have alerted to a concerning escalation in Hamas's activities within the Gaza Strip, stating the group is withdrawing weapons from its armories to bolster its military control over the territory. Security officials, cited by Channel 12, reported observing Hamas members recently at several depots collecting light arms, rockets, and other combat equipment. These weapons are reportedly being used for guard duty, securing group positions, and reasserting control over the population. Israeli authorities view these actions as a breach of the ceasefire agreement.

In response, the IDF, guided by the Shin Bet, conducted strikes on Tuesday against three depots containing dozens of weapons. A rocket launch pit used during the recent war was also destroyed. Over the past week, the IDF's Southern Command carried out 16 targeted strikes against Hamas infrastructure and command elements, resulting in the elimination of fourteen militants, including five company commanders and four platoon commanders, according to the army.

The Israeli military also notes an increased Hamas intent to target its troops. Incidents reported include the launch of incendiary kites and gunfire directed at soldiers along the border fence, as well as the detonation of explosive devices against Israeli military engineering vehicles. These events fuel security apparatus concerns about the gradual reconstruction of Hamas's military capabilities in Gaza.
