Adding to the pressure, the United Kingdom has officially declared sanctions targeting "illegal settlements in the West Bank." In response to the UK's actions, Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Saar announced that Israel would implement retaliatory measures against Britain. The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, criticized the British sanctions, pointing to what he termed British hypocrisy in imposing them.
