Maccabi Tel Aviv Explores Signing Dynamo Kyiv Defender Oleksandr Syrota

Maccabi Tel Aviv is actively pursuing transfer market opportunities and has identified Oleksandr Syrota, a former Maccabi Haifa player and current Dynamo Kyiv defender, as a potential signing. The 26-year-old, standing at 1.93 meters, is reportedly not in his Ukrainian club's immediate plans, prompting Maccabi Tel Aviv to investigate the feasibility of acquiring him to strengthen their defensive options. Syrota, who is Jewish, was also previously considered by Hapoel Be'er Sheva earlier in the summer.

Syrota joined Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2024, making 26 appearances across all competitions and scoring twice. He then returned to Dynamo Kyiv, his previous club, after loan spells at Turkish teams Kocaelispor and Umraniyespor during the last season. Syrota has represented Ukraine at the U-17 and U-21 levels, and has two senior caps. He rejoined Dynamo Kyiv at the start of the current season but has yet to make his debut this year.

In parallel with exploring the potential signing of Syrota, Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing for their upcoming derby match against Hapoel Tel Aviv on Monday. Coach Keni Miler may opt to field the same lineup that secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the previous round.
