Israel's Ministry of Health has announced a malfunction in genetic tests for the BRCA1 mutation, which is linked to an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Following a review of over 90,000 test results, approximately 100 samples have raised concerns about potentially false-negative outcomes.
The ministry stated that the company "Gamidor" has resolved the technical issues that led to the inaccurate test results. Genetic laboratories will proactively contact individuals who may be affected and arrange for repeat blood tests if necessary. Those who have undergone the testing and have not been contacted are not required to take any further action.
