IDF Chief of Staff Outlines New War Strategy Focused on Naval Power and Robotics

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir announced a significant new phase for the Israeli military, emphasizing naval development and advanced robotics. Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the 153rd course of naval officers, Zamir detailed the "Hoshen" multi-year program, which prioritizes strengthening Israel's maritime superiority.

The technological upgrades will begin with the "Dolphin 2" class submarine "INS Rahav" (referred to as "Ahi Drakon" in the text, likely a mistranslation or internal designation) and continue with the acquisition of modern "Reshef" class missile ships. Zamir stated that robotic systems for sea, land, and air operations will be developed, enabling unmanned complexes to operate alongside human crews or independently. Zamir expressed the IDF's ambition to become a global leader in this field, with a new dedicated unit slated for official establishment by Hanukkah, which begins in early December this year.
