Israel Establishes New Unmanned Systems and AI Branch, Unveils Major Naval Strategy

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the establishment of a new branch focused on unmanned systems and artificial intelligence during the 153rd naval officers' course completion ceremony in Haifa. Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir revealed the plan for this "historic organization" which will oversee rapidly developing technologies.

This initiative is part of a multi-year plan called "Hosen," which places a significant emphasis on naval capabilities to ensure Israel's military superiority at sea in the coming years. Zamir stated that the plan includes acquiring advanced naval assets, such as Reshef-class missile ships, to enhance operational range, endurance, and firepower.

The ceremony also marked the imminent arrival of the INS Drakon, the sixth submarine for the Israeli Navy and the third and final Dolphin-class AIP submarine acquired by the Ministry of Defense. The INS Drakon incorporates advanced technologies to expand the navy's operational flexibility and capabilities. Zamir described the submarine's journey to Israel as symbolizing the transformation of the naval arm into a powerful strategic force capable of reaching any target in the Middle East and beyond.

Zamir expressed confidence that the vision for advanced capabilities would soon become reality, leading to the development of robotic naval, ground, and air systems. These unmanned systems will operate alongside manned units or independently, increasing operational activity and saving lives on the battlefield.
