Israel Defense Forces Establish New Unmanned Systems and AI Branch

In a historic organizational and operational move, the Chief of Staff announced the establishment of a new branch within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dedicated to advanced technologies, autonomy, and artificial intelligence. The new branch, unofficially nicknamed the "Robotics Branch," will consolidate all unmanned systems across land, air, and sea under one command.

Speaking at a naval cadets' graduation ceremony, the Chief of Staff emphasized the operational necessity of adapting the military system to rapid technological advancements. "We understand that the future includes unmanned tools, robotics, drones, and extensive use of artificial intelligence," he stated. "This week, I finalized the establishment of a new branch in the IDF, a historic organization: the Unmanned Systems and Artificial Intelligence Branch, which will be responsible for this rapidly developing field. The vision will soon become reality."

The creation of this new branch represents a significant leap in the IDF's force-building capabilities. It is intended to fully synchronize intelligence gathering, attack systems, and robotics, expand the use of autonomous swarms, and develop advanced algorithms for battlefield decision-making.
