Israel Dismantles Hamas-Affiliated Terror Network, Arrests Over 30 Suspects

Israeli security forces, including the Shin Bet, police, and the IDF, have announced the dismantling of a significant terror network responsible for planning attacks against Israelis and security forces. The operation resulted in the arrest of over 30 suspects from Jerusalem and the West Bank (Judea and Samaria). Investigations are ongoing for some individuals.

Central to the network were two Jerusalem residents, Sabih Abu Sbeih and Rashid Rishq, identified as members of "Shabab al-Aqsa," a Hamas-affiliated terrorist organization. Sabih Abu Sbeih is the son of Misbah Abu Sbeih, who carried out a deadly attack in Jerusalem in October 2016. Rashid Rishq was previously released in January 2025 as part of a hostage exchange deal.

According to the investigation, Abu Sbeih and Rishq established a broad terror infrastructure, recruiting cells across the West Bank to carry out attacks. Seized during the operation were weapons and combat equipment intended for these attacks. Three other Jerusalem residents, Mohammed Abu Sbeih, Mohammed Azmi Bakri, and Ahmad Azmi Bakri, were also arrested for alleged involvement.

Evidence suggests Ahmad Azmi Bakri and Rashid Rishq were planning an attack at a restaurant in Modi'in. Mohammed Bakri allegedly trained Rishq and Mohammed Abu Sbeih in making explosives. Rishq and Sabih Abu Sbeih were also reportedly preparing a shooting attack against security forces in Al-Eizariya.

Following the investigation, Jerusalem prosecutors have filed indictments against five suspects, charging them with leading or belonging to a terror organization, preparing terrorist acts, weapons offenses, and recruitment. Authorities are seeking their detention until the legal proceedings conclude. Indictments against other West Bank suspects are expected soon.

Security forces stated they will continue operations to thwart attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups against Israeli citizens and residents.
