Referee Explains Player Ejection for Insulting Remarks
Referee Yigal Fried detailed the reason for sending off Hapoel Be'er Sheva midfielder Eliel Peretz during a match against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Peretz was ejected in the first half after receiving two yellow cards. Fried stated in his referee's report that Peretz shouted, "You are weak, weak, you have no idea." The player had previously received a yellow card for arguing with the referee about not stopping play when Hapoel Be'er Sheva player Miguel Vítor was injured. Peretz reportedly claimed that Fried would have stopped the game if a Maccabi Tel Aviv player had been injured. After the first yellow card, Peretz continued to argue, saying, "What are you giving a yellow for? You have no idea. You came to steal the show."
Hapoel Be'er Sheva suffered a significant loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv and also faced an early injury to Lucas Ventura, in addition to Peretz's ejection, leaving them with ten players.
