Special Torah Scroll Dedicated at Jerusalem Residence of Late Chief Rabbi
A unique Torah scroll, designed to resemble the white robe worn by the late Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron during the High Holy Days, was dedicated at his former Jerusalem residence in the Beit Vagan neighborhood. The scroll also features the names of Torah centers and yeshivas established by the former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel.
The dedication ceremony, held ahead of the High Holy Days, was a moving event attended by rabbis, public figures, and the rabbi's family. The special Torah scroll was designed and donated by philanthropist Victor Kmeho from the United States, who served Rabbi Bakshi-Doron for decades.
The deep connection between Kmeho and the late rabbi is reflected in the scroll's design, symbolizing the High Holy Days. The "Binyan Eliyahu" study hall, established in memory of Rabbi Bakshi-Doron, continues his Torah legacy. A new study hall was recently opened in Modi'in Illit, headed by Rabbi Daniel Cohen, a prominent student of the late rabbi.
