Special Torah Scroll Honors Late Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi Doron

Behadrei HaredimReligious
Translated & summarized from Behadrei Haredim by baba
The story · English

A unique Torah scroll, designed to resemble the white robe worn by Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi Doron, the former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, has been dedicated in his memory. The scroll was installed in his former home in the Beit Vagan neighborhood of Jerusalem ahead of the High Holy Days.

The scroll is adorned with the names of Torah centers and yeshivas that Rabbi Bakshi Doron established during his lifetime. The project was funded and dedicated by Mr. Victor Kmeiu from the United States, who served the late rabbi for decades.

The dedication ceremony was a grand affair, attended by rabbis, public figures, and members of Rabbi Bakshi Doron's family. The scroll's artistic design specifically mirrors the distinctive white robe the rabbi was known to wear during the High Holy Days, symbolizing his legacy and spiritual leadership.
