Top Rabbis Attend Torah Scroll Dedication Ceremony in Meron

Kikar HaShabbatReligious
Translated & summarized from Kikar HaShabbat by baba
The story · English

A significant ceremony for the dedication of a new Torah scroll took place in the holy site of Meron on the 25th of Elul, which coincided with the creation of the world and the anniversary of Rabbi Elazar ben Shimon bar Yochai. The Torah scroll was brought into existence through the efforts of Rabbi Shraga Schnitzer.

The final letters of the scroll were inscribed at the residence of Rabbi Elazar Stern, the chief rabbi of Meron. Many prominent figures, including Hasidic rebbes, rabbis, influential figures, and public officials, gathered to participate in this final writing.

Among those present were Rabbi Elimelech Biderman, the Rebbe of Zvihl, and other rabbis and dignitaries who came to honor the Torah. Following the completion of the inscription, a joyous procession began from the chief rabbi's home. Crowds danced with great fervor, singing and celebrating with torches as they escorted the Torah towards the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.

The celebrations continued with immense joy and spiritual devotion at the tomb itself. After prayers were recited by Rabbi Elazar Stern, the Torah scroll was placed into the Ark of the Covenant within the sanctuary of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.
