Extreme Heatwave Grips Israel Ahead of High Holidays, Red Alert Issued
Israel is experiencing a severe heatwave as the High Holidays approach, with Tuesday seeing a significant increase in extreme heat across most of the country. A red alert was issued for the Beit She'an Valley, Kinneret Basin, and Jordan Valley from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM due to the dangerous conditions. High temperatures are expected in mountainous and inland areas, while swimmers in the Mediterranean Sea are warned of high waves and hazardous conditions.
The heat is forecast to gradually subside by Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures returning to seasonal averages and heat loads easing. This milder weather is expected to continue through Friday, the eve of Rosh Hashanah, providing comfortable conditions for holiday preparations and travel.
However, the respite will be short-lived. Temperatures are predicted to rise again starting Saturday, the first day of Rosh Hashanah.
