Israeli Police Officer Charged with Assaulting Teenager

A police officer in Israel has been indicted for allegedly assaulting a teenager at a rehabilitation facility for at-risk youth in Herzliya. The incident occurred on October 7, 2025, when the officer was called to the "Mitzpe Yam" facility to calm a 18-year-old resident who was reportedly acting out and holding a shovel. According to the indictment filed by the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash), the officer spoke with the facility's counselors before approaching the teenager.

Once inside the teenager's room, the officer allegedly turned off his body camera to prevent the encounter from being recorded. The indictment claims the officer then grabbed the teen without authority, pushed him onto the bed, and choked him until he had difficulty breathing. The officer is also accused of slapping the teenager and threatening him with a Taser, pointing it at his head and stating he would electrocute him.

After the alleged assault, the officer reportedly turned his body camera back on. Mahash further alleges that the officer deliberately omitted the violent acts from his official report of the incident, attempting to conceal his actions. The indictment, filed by attorney Mirav Nagler at the Haifa Magistrate's Court, charges the officer with assault, threats, and obstruction of justice. The investigation was conducted by the coastal district team of Mahash.
