Israeli Police Officer Charged with Assaulting Teen at Youth Facility
An Israeli police officer has been indicted on charges of assault, threats, and obstruction of justice following an incident at a rehabilitation youth facility in Herzliya. The officer was called to the facility after reports that a teenager was acting out with a shovel. According to the indictment filed with the Haifa Magistrate's Court, the officer escorted the teen to his room. After the teen made a sarcastic remark, the officer turned off his body camera, pushed the teen onto a bed, choked him, slapped him, and held a Taser to his head, threatening to electrocute him.
Following the alleged assault, the officer reportedly reactivated his body camera. Investigators claim that the officer intentionally omitted the details of the violent encounter from his official report. The indictment was filed by the Police Investigation Department in recent days. The officer is accused of attempting to conceal his actions after the alleged assault.
