Democratic Front Council to Vote on Jaafar Farah's Knesset List Position

The Democratic Front for Peace and Equality's council is meeting in Shfaram on Monday to vote on whether candidate Jaafar Farah will remain on the party's list for the upcoming Knesset elections or step down. The decision comes ahead of the finalization and official submission of the list.

The meeting follows internal discussions aimed at preserving the Front's unity. Farah has stated he will accept any outcome, emphasizing that unity and a joint electoral effort are his priorities. Former Front chairman Mohammed Barakeh is expected to propose a compromise solution during the session, though its details remain undisclosed.

Sources within the Front indicate that altering Farah's position or implementing a rotation system is not currently on the table, unless the council decides otherwise. Farah himself reiterated that his personal standing is secondary to the party's unity and the broader electoral goals, citing the urgent situation in Gaza as a more pressing concern.

Despite potential pre-meeting proposals, Farah noted that discussions would still proceed, with votes taken if necessary to finalize the matter. Youssef Jabareen expressed optimism about reaching consensus, viewing the meeting as a launchpad for presenting a unified Joint List and engaging in the election campaign.

Jabareen highlighted the challenges facing the Front and the necessity of mobilizing all its youth and political forces. He stressed the importance of maintaining the party's unity and strength, particularly in light of its role as a central vanguard force among the Arab population. The final decision on Farah's candidacy rests with the council members.
