Maccabi Tel Aviv Names Noam Ben Harush to Replace Departing Star Roy Revivo

Maccabi Tel Aviv is set to face Hapoel Be'er Sheva with a reshuffled defense following the departure of left-back Roy Revivo to Elche. Revivo, widely considered one of the Israeli Premier League's greatest attacking full-backs, contributed significantly to Maccabi's recent success, with 13 assists last season and seven the year before. His offensive prowess from the left flank created a significant void.

To fill this gap, Maccabi has acquired James Tavernier, who is expected to provide similar attacking freedom on the right flank, mirroring his role at Rangers. Tavernier, known for his speed and goal-scoring threat, recorded eight goals and four assists last season. However, his impact may be limited in the immediate games before the international break.

Midfielder Gabi Kanyukovsky is also expected to play a crucial role in compensating for Revivo's absence. Kanyukovsky, who returned for a second stint with the club, has a history of linking play and creating chances, notching 11 assists in the 2024/25 season. His ability to control the midfield and distribute precise passes is anticipated to ease offensive pressure and create opportunities for forwards.

The primary replacement at left-back is expected to be Noam Ben Harush, acquired from Hapoel Haifa for €750,000 plus three loaned players. Ben Harush, who has struggled for consistent starts since his arrival last summer, has played various roles but is now slated to fill in at left-back, with Tyris Asante potentially shifting to right-back. While Ben Harush offers more defensive stability than Revivo, he has also shown attacking potential, including creating more big chances than Revivo in the 2024/25 season while at Hapoel Haifa.

Maccabi's attacking focus may shift towards the right flank with Tavernier's arrival, potentially creating more space on the left. Ben Harush is expected to adopt a more conservative role, similar to Asante's previous function, focusing on defensive duties while still capable of contributing offensively.
