Two Israelis Die Abroad; Bodies Being Repatriated

Two Israeli citizens have died in separate incidents in Southeast Asia in early September, prompting efforts by Israeli authorities to return their bodies home. One tragedy occurred in Vietnam, where 23-year-old David Ben-Lulu from Jerusalem died in a motorcycle accident on September 4th. The accident happened hundreds of kilometers from Hanoi during his travels. Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ZAKA international rescue and recovery unit are involved in the repatriation process. The situation is complicated by Ben-Lulu also holding French citizenship, requiring coordination with French diplomatic services. The French consulate in Hanoi reportedly opened on a Sunday to facilitate necessary paperwork. ZAKA representatives are coordinating the transport of his body from the remote accident site to Hanoi for eventual shipment to Israel for burial.

The second incident took place in Pattaya, Thailand, a popular tourist destination, where an Israeli man, approximately 70 years old, drowned in a hotel swimming pool. Details surrounding this death have not yet been released. This follows previous reports of Israelis dying tragically while on vacation, with one case facing significant difficulties in repatriation.
