Dozens of Animals Poisoned in Series of Attacks in Benjamin Region

A series of at least 11 suspected poisoning incidents targeting livestock and water sources has been reported in the Benjamin Regional Council area, near the village of al-Moeiyer, along Route 458 (Alon Road). The incidents, which began in June 2025, have resulted in the deaths or injury of dozens of sheep, cattle, and dogs. The latest incident occurred last week when two goats were found dead near the Ma'atzad David outpost, believed to be from poisoning.

The perpetrators have employed varied methods, including leaving poisoned food items like dates and pita bread in grazing areas and introducing toxic substances directly into water troughs and drinking pits. Trackers have reportedly found footprints leading towards nearby Palestinian villages.

These events coincide with rising tensions in the region. On August 30, stones were thrown at shepherds, and a shepherd was injured and lost consciousness after an altercation with an activist near the Rimmonim junction. The Benjamin Council claims the proximity of these activist activities to the livestock poisonings raises serious questions requiring law enforcement investigation.

Israel Gantz, head of the Benjamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, warned that inaction against those poisoning animals could lead to future attacks on humans. He urged security forces to act decisively against "terrorists" from al-Moeiyer, whom he accused of having the intent and capability to murder Israelis, and called for the immediate apprehension of those responsible to prevent the phenomenon from escalating.
