Poisoning Incidents Threaten Livestock and Water Sources in Benjamin Region

A new report from the Benjamin Regional Council reveals at least 11 poisoning incidents along the Alon Road, near the village of Al-Moei, since June 2025. These incidents have resulted in the deaths or injury of dozens of animals, including sheep, goats, cows, and dogs. Suspiciously poisoned food and water sources have been discovered in grazing areas.

In some cases, dates and pita bread containing suspected poison were scattered in pastures, while in others, the substance was found in water troughs and wells. Trackers have reportedly found footprints leading towards nearby villages following some of these events. Specific incidents include poisoned dates found at the Matzad David farm, sheep affected by a poisoned well at the Shlisa farm, and two sheep dying with approximately 15 others poisoned at the same farm after poison was found in a trough.

The council notes a correlation between recent poisoning events and shepherd attacks by alleged anarchist activists in the same area, raising suspicions of involvement. The council is urging security forces to investigate these connections, though it is currently only a suspicion.

The Benjamin Council is particularly concerned about the poisoning of water sources used by livestock, warning that this could escalate to targeting humans. They emphasize the strategic importance of these farms, which act as a protective buffer along the Alon Road, reducing friction points. Data indicates a significant decrease in terror-related incidents along the Alon Road correlating with an increase in the number of active farms.

Israel Gantz, head of the Benjamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, issued a stark warning: "If we remain silent when sheep are poisoned, we will cry when Israelis are poisoned." He urged the security establishment to act decisively against those responsible in Al-Moei, stating, "We must stop those responsible and cut off this phenomenon now, before it is too late."
