TV Host Odette Schwartz Recounts Horrific Acid Burn Accident

Israeli media personality Odette Schwartz has spoken out about a severe domestic accident that occurred four months ago, during which she was doused with a strong drain cleaner. In a recent interview, Schwartz described the terrifying moments after the corrosive liquid spilled over her body, causing her clothes to disintegrate and leaving her in immense pain.

Schwartz recounted that the incident happened suddenly, and she immediately ran to the bathroom, staying under lukewarm water for 20 minutes while still clothed. She later learned that this intuitive action was crucial, as cold water would have sealed her pores, trapping the acid, and hot water would have been equally damaging. Her clothing literally fell off her in pieces.

She described the sensation as being engulfed in flames and experiencing intense burning, stinging, and itching. Even now, she suffers from intermittent pain, describing it as sudden stabs, bites, and itching that can strike at any moment, sometimes requiring her to sit in a bath for an hour with a bottle of water and a plastic chair, screaming.

Schwartz also shared a harrowing interaction with her great-aunt, who was present during the accident. While Schwartz urgently needed to go to the emergency room, her great-aunt seemed more concerned about her own rising blood pressure and head pains, prompting Schwartz to yell at her to focus on the emergency at hand.

Despite the ordeal, which she considers a miracle survival, Schwartz expressed gratitude and resilience. She stated that the experience has further strengthened her, allowing her to still say 'thank you' even after the disaster.
