TV Host Odette Schwartz Recounts Horrific Acid Burn Accident

Israeli media personality Odette Schwartz has detailed a severe domestic accident that occurred four months ago, during which she was doused with a strong drain cleaner. In a recent interview, Schwartz described the terrifying moments after the corrosive liquid spilled on her body, causing intense burning sensations and making her clothes disintegrate.

Schwartz recounted that immediately after the incident, she instinctively ran to the bathroom and remained under lukewarm water for 20 minutes, a decision she later learned was crucial. She explained that cold water would have sealed her pores, trapping the acid, while hot water was also to be avoided. Her clothing literally fell off her body in pieces.

She described the immediate aftermath as feeling like being engulfed in flames. Despite the agony, she managed to maintain composure, telling herself, "God loves you, your recovery has begun, everything is okay with you." She also recalled the shock of her aunt, who was present during the accident, focusing on her own distress rather than Schwartz's critical condition, prompting Schwartz to demand immediate transport to the emergency room.

Schwartz continues to live with the physical and emotional consequences of the accident, experiencing sudden stabbing pains, stinging, and itching. She shared that she often sits in the bathtub for extended periods with a bottle of water and a plastic chair to manage the discomfort, sometimes crying out in pain.
