Respected Rabbi Rebbetzin Rivka Shapira Laid to Rest in Ofra

Hundreds of people attended the funeral of Rebbetzin Rivka Shapira in the settlement of Ofra on Sunday evening. Shapira, a co-founder of the Shuva seminary and widow of Rabbi Moshe Shapira, was remembered for establishing the institution with her husband and educating generations of students.

The funeral procession took place at the synagogue in Ofra. Shapira, daughter of Yaffa and Rabbi Chaim Schnur, was instrumental in building the Shuva seminary, where she taught Torah and influenced many students and families throughout her life.

She is the mother of Rabbi Yehoshua Shapira, head of the Ramat Gan Yeshiva; Rabbi Yitzchak (Itzik) Shapira, head of the Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva in Yitzhar; and Matania Shapira, deputy director of the Yesha Council.

The Shuva seminary issued a statement mourning her passing, calling her their "great and beloved teacher." They highlighted her life's work with her husband, stating, "Together with her husband, our teacher Rabbi Moshe, she established the Shuva seminary, raised generations of students and families, and taught Torah with grace and kindness." The seminary concluded their statement with a lament, "How will the world be without a moon?" expressing the deep sorrow felt by the seminary's administration, graduates, and staff.
