Rebbetzin Rivka Bartler, widow of Rabbi Yitzchak Aizik Bartler, the former head of Yeshivat Itrei and author of “Beit Yitzchak,” has died at the age of 87. Her funeral was scheduled for Sunday morning, leaving from her home at 15 Shaarei Torah Street in Jerusalem’s Bayit Vegan neighborhood at 11:30 a.m., and continuing at 2:00 p.m. at the Vishnitz cemetery in Bnei Brak, where she was to be buried.
Bartler was born on 4 Tevet 5699 to Rabbi Avraham Freund and Mrs. Sarah. After reaching marriageable age, she married Rabbi Yitzchak Aizik Bartler, and the couple built a home devoted to Torah and reverence for heaven. They first lived in Tel Aviv, then in Bnei Brak, and later moved to Jerusalem, where her husband was appointed one of the yeshiva’s heads in 1972.
The article says she stood by her husband with great dedication, enabling him to study without interruption and help educate many students in the path of Torah and upright conduct. She is survived by several rabbinic sons, including Rabbi Raphael, Rabbi Aharon, and Rabbi Israel Meir, along with daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who continue in the Torah way.
